TMU Inaugural 5k Benefitting K9s For Warriors

Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs coming from high-kill rescue shelters, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

Truett McConnell University is pleased to announce its support of K9s For Warriors by helping to raise money for its fantastic program and mission. One mission of the university is to serve our fellow man and we can think of no more fitting way than to honor our service men and women who fight bravely for our God-given freedom. Unfortunately, around 20 veterans who served post-9/11 commit suicide daily. Around 700,000 dogs are euthanized in shelters every year. Many of these are wonderful dogs who can be trained as Service Dogs for veterans in need. To date, K9s For Warriors has graduated more than 650 Warrior-K9 teams and rescued nearly 1,300 dogs overall. K9s For Warriors provides an amazing service to 2 lives, please consider participating or donating to our event.

This 5k run/walk charity event will take place on Friday, April 8th from 9am to 12pm (noon) on TMU's beautiful campus in Cleveland, Georgia in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains. The event is open to TMU employees, students, and the local community. Please join us for an exciting day of fellowship and health. There are also opportunities to volunteer for the event. The cost of the 5k run/walk is $25 dollars, but participants are encouraged to donate more. Donations can be made in memorium of family (veterans, service personnel, or pet dog) whether you wish to participate running/walking or not. If you cannot race with us in person, you can donate/register and race virtually-the day of the race record your time and post a picture to Jeremiah Lukers and he will post it to this event page.

Up to $100: 1-star receives 2 t-shirts and registers 2 people.

Up to $250: 2-star receives 4 t-shirts and registers 4 people.

Up to $500: 3-star receives up to 6 t-shirts and registers up to 6 people. Display sponsor name on t-shirt and 1 sponsor hydration station.

Up to $1000: 4-star receives up to 8 t-shirts and registers up to 8 people. Display sponsor name on t-shirt and 3 sponsor hydration stations.

Up to $5000: 5-star receives up to 10 t-shirts and registers up to 10 people. Display sponsor name on t-shirt 4 sponsor hydration stations. Choose to be named as a sponsor for start or finish of the 5k event.
