K9s For Warriors Community Events 2018

FSC Men's Lacrosse K9s for Warriors Game

On behalf of Florida Southern Men's Lacrosse my teammates and I have decided to raise money for veterans. There are many organizations out there to choose from, but we selected K9s for Warriors. This organization truly does an amazing job with matching up the perefect dog with a veteran so they do not have to battle PTSD alone. We are ambassadors of K9s for Warriors and this is how FSC Men's Lacrosse, friends and family are paying forward our endless graditutude to our veterans. THANK YOU VETS!

EVENT DATE:   4/7/18  12:30 pm @ Moccasin Stadium 111 Lake Hollingsworth Dr. Lakeland Fl

K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our Warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. Our goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.

Program Description: Our warriors come from all over the country to attend our three week in-house program at no cost to them. We have a class each month that stay with us on campus here at our facility. Our service dogs, the majority of which are rescues, are also trained here on campus by our staff of dog trainers. On the warriors’ first full day with us they meet their pre-trained service dog. The bonding immediately begins. They then start their three week journey of recovery by training daily together. They are together 24/7. The class leaves campus daily with our warrior trainers who help to train the class on how to work with their service dog and learn to implement specific commands. They go to public locations like parks or Target, and have lunch in restaurants which helps in the training as well. All of this benefits the warrior because it eases them back into society with the goal of pride and less anxiety. The classes graduate on the third Thursday of the three week process. Many of our warriors come here on multiple medications and are eventually able to minimize their medication intake or eliminate them completely! We have had a tremendous success rate with our graduates.
