K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our Warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. Our goal is to empower them to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
Program Description: Our comprehensive in-house program provides each warrior with 120 hours of hands-on training with professional canine and warrior trainers. The program includes public access testing, service canine equipment, seminars, veterinary care, meals, and housing, all at no cost to the warrior. Our philosophy is to involve the warrior in the final training of his/her new service canine partner, providing the warrior the opportunity to be part of the solution to recovery. Each month a cohort of 10-to-12 warriors stays together in our state-of-the-art facility where they train continuously with their new battle buddy. During their three-week stay at Camp K9, warriors meet, train and live with the new dogs under the close supervision of the canine operations team. Upon graduation, warriors return home with a highly skilled service dog. The dogs must be periodically recertified, and we are committed to providing a service K9 to our graduates for a lifetime.
